Bio
Dr. Wai-Jia Tam is an award-winning humanitarian doctor and performer whose work bridges medicine, storytelling, and human resilience. Her journey began at 18, when she lived with abandoned girls in Nepal and illustrated a picture book that raised over $100,000 to build them a permanent home. She later founded Kitesong Global, helping raise over a million dollars for underserved communities across Asia and Africa through storytelling and service.
A former consultant with the World Health Organization and UNICEF, Wai-Jia has led public health communication efforts and authored four picture books for philanthropy and advocacy. Her work has been recognized by Singapore’s Prime Minister’s Office, Forbes Asia 30 Under 30, and the Young Outstanding Singaporeans Award.
Following a health crisis, a move from Singapore to Tanzania unexpectedly reshaped her calling—leading to an accidental foray into sold-out comedy and a new chapter of reinvention. Today, through her work—including her book Dream Brave and an upcoming memoir—Wai-Jia explores the courage to break inherited scripts around worth, silence, and success.
